Moving with children
Phoenix Moving | Local Moving

Children, from toddlers to teenagers, are affected by your move. But parents can make the transition a little more easily, by keeping them informed, with positive communication.
Parents should stress the positive aspects of the move. Talk about the new friends they will meet and your new community. For younger children, make sure that you keep familiar toys, such as there favorite stuffed animals, books. Don’t abandon the bedtime routines, such as read a favorite story book, or prayers, try to make them feel at home in there new environment.
Let the Children know, that because you’re moving into a new community, it doesn’t mean that you still cannot keep in touch with your old friends. Let them know that they can call and write letters, that moving away doesn’t mean you can’t still communicate, or visit. And there will be plenty of new people to meet.
Children will also be curious and want to know about the new home. Use a road map and explain where you are located now and where you will be moving. When you visit your new community, take photos, and explain each photo to your children. Older children can plan the trip and learn about interesting places along the way.
Be sure to visit the school and visit with teachers, to help reduce anxiety. Let the teachers know what your child’s Hobbies, special interest, needs and concerns. When you form a new friendship with neighbors, it will help your children feel more at ease and comfortable.
On the day of the Move, arrange for child care. It will be difficult for you to spend quality time with your children during the moving process. Have your children pack some of their favorite toys, it will make them feel that they are part of the moving process.
Above all, be sure to listen to your children’s concerns, and be sensitive to your children, let them know that everything is going to be alright, before you know it, they will adjust quickly.
